opinion on block wormers
04/14/11 9:29 PM

I would like to hear what some of you all think about these wormer blocks you can buy from the feed stores....some of my friends have suggested the liquid method of placing it on the backs of my cattle....but I have no chute or way to contain them other than a fairly good sized pen....I have six head and I am thinking the block is the way to go with my situation....also have two cows with calves about a month old....I don't suppose the wormer would hurt the calves....I have been told it would not hurt the calves....so I am seeking opinions from some of you that have been doing this fer a goodly spell.....thanks.....Gillis Bartles

In my opinion they work ok. I like to worm different ways and with different products. My idea is that if I use something different then there can be no resistence buiding up to the wormer.
I have never had worm problems with the Longhorns. Years ago I had other mixed breeds and sometimes worms would be a real problem. It is possible I was overgrazing at that time though.
